What Santa Cruz Is
Santa Cruz stretches across the eastern and northeastern portion of the island and, at 270.77 square kilometers, is the largest municipality in Marinduque by land area. With a population of 51,594, it is also the second most populous, just behind Boac. In terms of sheer scale, Santa Cruz is the province's most expansive town — more spread out, more varied in its geography, and with a character shaped by that space.
Language and Local Life
Santa Cruz shares the same Tagalog foundation as the rest of the province, but the larger geography means that barangay life here feels somewhat more dispersed than in compact towns like Boac or Gasan. The town center functions as a service hub, but significant portions of the population live in communities spread across the municipality's wide interior and coastal stretches.
