About this place

Among the Maniwaya Island resorts, Wawie's Beach Resort has been around long enough to become shorthand for the whole island-stay experience. It's the resort that's reliably in the "Wawie's, etc." framing — a steady, well-run operation that combines island hopping, volleyball, camping, fresh seafood, and nipa-hut accommodations into a complete Maniwaya package. For travelers looking to do Maniwaya without having to design the day, Wawie's is the answer.

What's On Offer

- Nipa hut rooms — the classic island accommodation style - Island hopping — Palad Sandbar and Ungab Rock Formation are the standard route - Volleyball — beach courts for active groups - Camping — for the more rugged travelers - Videoke area — Filipino island stays without karaoke aren't the same - Fresh seafood — meals built around what came in that morning

Pricing and Packages

- Entrance fee: PHP 50 per person - Tour packages start at PHP 2,399 per head for 2D/1N with island hopping and 5 meals - Always open for booking inquiries — coordinate boat pickup at Buyabod Port

That package model is the easiest way to do Maniwaya: pay once, eat 5 meals, do the island hop, sleep on the beach. The all-in pricing eliminates the daily decision-making of figuring out boat coordination, meal logistics, and resort-by-resort comparisons.

Practical Notes

- Electricity: 5:00 AM – 10:00 PM — typical small-island schedule. Plan device charging accordingly. - Always open for inquiries — but actual stays revolve around the boat schedule from Buyabod

Maniwaya Floating Resto

A specific Wawie's offering worth knowing about: the Maniwaya Floating Resto is associated with the resort — a setup that lets you dine on the water with fresh seafood and local dishes while the sea breeze does the rest. Mention it when booking if you want this experience built into your stay.

Why It's the Default

For most Maniwaya travelers, the question isn't "where do I stay" — it's "what package gets me there cheaply and well?" Wawie's answers that question with a long-running, package-friendly setup that keeps showing up on first-timer Maniwaya itineraries. It's the dependable, no-surprises Maniwaya choice.

Best Time to Visit

Dry season — November through May — for safe banca crossings. June through October the seas can turn nasty fast and crossings get cancelled mid-trip. If you must go in the wet months, plan with a buffer day on either side so a cancelled boat doesn't derail your travel home.

What to Bring

Bring your booking confirmation, and if you're hoping to walk in, message the Facebook page FIRST because there's no easy way to "just check" once you're standing on the beach. Pack swimwear and a rash guard for the sun, reef-safe sunscreen (the corals are alive — please), a dry bag because the banca will spray you, mosquito repellent for the evenings, light layers for after sunset, and cash for everything — there are no ATMs on Maniwaya, no card readers, nothing. Bring more cash than you think you need.

How to Get Here

Maniwaya is reached by banca from Buyabod Port in Brgy. Buyabod, Sta Cruz — that's the standard launch point. NOT Balanacan Port — Balanacan is the RoRo terminal where the Lucena ferry lands, on the opposite side of the island. Full route: Lucena → ferry to Balanacan → jeepney/van to Sta Cruz Centro → tricycle to Buyabod Port → banca to Maniwaya. Confirm boat pickup with your resort directly, especially with heavy luggage; the bancas are small and porters aren't standing by. Allow a full half-day for the trip from Lucena.

⚠️ banca only — book in advance

Local routes, fares, and ferry schedules can shift without notice — and travel times depend on weather, traffic, and tide. Confirm fares and timing with the driver or locals before you set out.
