About this place

There aren't many places in our province where you can order a cold one with your feet practically on the shore, which is exactly what makes Kangaroo Bar and Beach Club stand out. It sits right by the beach in Zone 7, Brgy. Buliasnin — on the coast just north of Boac town proper, heading toward Mogpog — and it wears its Aussie personality loudly: a kangaroo logo, "Aussie Spirit" painted on the woodwork, and strings of flags from all over the world over the bar.

Good drinks, good people, good vibes

That's the line painted over the bar, and the place is built around it. Their signage promises live music and "good times every night," and the Facebook page keeps the evenings moving with things like a midnight food trip. The bar itself is an open, wood-and-tin affair strung with lights, with high stools, a TV, and an Australian flag behind the counter.

Tables on the beach

Step past the bar and you're on a gravel beach shaded by trees, umbrellas and little nipa sheds, with bamboo armchairs and wooden benches pointed at the water. The photos people have shared show the sun going down over the sea from those same seats — this is very much a sunset-and-something-cold kind of spot.

Yes, you can camp here

When a group of overlanders asked Marinduque locals for the best campsite on the island, Justin Worth jumped into the thread to answer for the bar: "Camp at the beach at Kangaroo bar and beach club. We have ample parking shower and toilet and can set you up with power. We also sell food and drinks." Beach camping with a bathroom, power for your gear and a bar steps away is a rare combination around here — just message them first to arrange it and ask about any fee.

Good to know

Google lists Kangaroo as open 24 hours, but it's a bar first, so the real action is in the afternoon and evening. Reach them at 0939 280 0569 or through their Facebook page before you go, especially if you're planning to camp.

Best Time to Visit

Late afternoon into the evening is when it's at its best — sunset from the beach chairs, then lights and music at the bar. If you're camping, the dry season (roughly November to May) gives you calmer nights by the water.

What to Bring

If you're just coming for drinks, cash and a light layer for the sea breeze at night are all you need. If you're camping, bring your own tent and bedding, mosquito repellent for the beach after dark, and a charging cable — they've said they can set you up with power.
