🏝️Paadjao Cascades
About this place
Hidden in Barangay Bocboc, Mogpog, Paadjao Cascades is one of Marinduque's most rewarding nature stops — a 100-foot cascading falls flowing into a natural swimming pool, framed by tall forest trees and coco groves. Travelers who've made the trip describe it as a paradise far from the crowded, polluted city, and the rating holds up across visits: fresh air, cold water, and a setting that genuinely earns the travel time.
The Falls and the Pool
At 100 feet tall, Paadjao is one of the tallest falls accessible in Marinduque. The water drops into a natural swimming pool that's deep and cold enough for a full swim, surrounded by the kind of forest cover that keeps the air cooler than the coast. It's the classic Philippine falls experience — minus the crowds that similar-sized falls on the big islands draw.
What Visitors Say
"Fall in love in a paradise far from the crowded and polluted city. This paradise is located in Mogpog, Marinduque. If you are coming from Balanacan port, it will be around 1–1 and half hours. Long ride is worth when you arrived to this place. Fresh air, cold water that will refresh you." — L ~ 林恩
"It took a while to get there, but when we did the experience was well worth it. The area was relatively clean, the water was fresh and cold… Nice place… recommended." — Moehrnp
"In the morning this place is still clean and no litter… for me this a real nature and very nice to go again and again. Just bring your foods, water and other needs before going here because there is no store at this place." — Elvin Patrick G
Planning the Trip
From Balanacan Port, expect roughly 1 to 1.5 hours of travel to reach the falls. The route is rural and road conditions vary, so plan for that when setting out.
Bring what you need — there are no stores on-site:
- Food and snacks - Drinking water - Swim gear (the pool invites a dip) - A towel and change of clothes - Trash bag (pack out everything you bring in)
Mornings are the cleanest, least-crowded window. Afternoon visits have historically seen more litter and rowdier crowds — plan accordingly.
Why It's Worth the Ride
Marinduque isn't built around big-ticket tourist attractions. Paadjao is the exception — a waterfall that genuinely delivers on the promise, provided you're willing to make the trip. For visitors wanting a full, cold-water nature day after the heat of the coast, this is one of the best stops on the island.
Best Time to Visit
Right after the rainy season — October to early December — when the falls run hardest. Dry-season visits show the cascades reduced to a trickle, which is a disappointment if you came for the volume. Mornings are coolest for the hike, and the light through the trees is gentler then too.

How to Get Here
From Mogpog Centro, hire a tricycle to Brgy. Bocboc. The trail to the cascades is a short walk through a small farming community — follow the local signage or ask at the start of the path. Don't go alone after rain; the trail gets dangerous and people get hurt every year on these slopes.
Local routes, fares, and ferry schedules can shift without notice — and travel times depend on weather, traffic, and tide. Confirm fares and timing with the driver or locals before you set out.
