About this place

Malbog Sulfuric Hotspring: Marinduque’s Warm Therapeutic Soak

If you’re looking for the kind of soak Marinduque is quietly famous for, Malbog Sulfuric Hotspring is where you go. The natural sulfur spring in Buenavista draws visitors for its warm, mineral-rich waters, long believed to carry therapeutic benefits — and for the unhurried, distinctly local atmosphere around it.

Open daily from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM, entry is kept remarkably affordable at PHP 25 per person — one of the best-value nature experiences on the island.

What You’ll Find On-Site

Numerous cottages are available for rent if you want a shaded home base for the day. Restrooms and shower rooms are on hand, and if you’re in the mood to make an afternoon of it, videoke equipment and floaters are also available for rent. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own food and utensils — this is a bring-your-own-baon kind of place, and that’s part of the charm.

The Therapeutic Draw

The spring’s sulfuric waters come up warm from the earth and have drawn locals and travelers for generations. Beyond the practical relief of a long, warm soak, there’s the simple pleasure of being immersed in water that feels — and smells — undeniably natural.

Before You Go

For inquiries, reach the operators at +63 936 588 5051 or +63 938 498 2851. Weekends and holidays draw the biggest crowds, so a weekday visit is the quietest bet. Bring extra water, your own towels, and a change of clothes; the sulfuric mineral content means a proper rinse afterward is a good idea.

Malbog sits at the base of Mount Malindig’s volcanic footprint, which is where the heat in these springs ultimately comes from. Pair a morning soak with a Buenavista View Deck run, and you have a full Marinduque day mapped out — hot, cool, and scenic in that order.

Best Time to Visit

November to May (dry season). Avoid typhoon months (June–October).

It was more exciting during its early days... With its rugged and natural appeal. The place was since equipped with several pools, cabanas, and other facilities. However, most have fallen into disrepair. Since pools were constructed in place of the running water design from before, moss and gunk have accumulated, especially in the big round catch basin where spring water from the ground is collected. There was not much to do except dip in the only functional pool where the water was much colder than the hot temperature I expected from a hot spring, a far cry from the original.

  • There's a steep and rough road that you need to cross before getting to the location. Lowered vehicles are not advisable. It's best to bring your own food. They offer food, water and videoke rental. Perfect for family and group bonding. It is expected of the place to have a very unpleasant smell due to sulfur. Restrooms and shower rooms are available but please do not expect too much. Cottages are nice.
