About this place

Chinggay's signature drink is a Dirty Ube Latte made with real, locally-sourced coffee beans — and once you've had one, the other Boac cafe lattes start to taste lazy. The cafe is on the corner of Nepomuceno and Lardizabal Streets in the central Poblacion, opened in 2025 (it's still on a "Soft Opening" menu placard at the counter), and has built a tight regular following almost from day one.

It's a small, air-conditioned cafe that the regulars actively call out for the comfort. Cold, quiet, the kind of room where students settle in over a long afternoon and friend groups stretch a single coffee order into two hours.

What You'll Find

The coffee menu is what brings most people back the second time. The Dirty Ube Latte is the signature — strong coffee pulled into ube cream, the kind of drink where you can taste both halves clearly instead of either one drowning. The Dirty Strawberry Latte is the equally-popular cousin.

Spanish Latte runs ₱120/₱125/₱145 across hot, cold, and large sizes. Caramel and Hazelnut Lattes at ₱125–₱150. Banoffee Latte (₱145/₱150/₱170) and Creamy Coconut Latte (cold ₱150, large ₱170) round out the indulgent end of the coffee list. Plain Americano is ₱90, plain Latte and Cappuccino at ₱110 each.

On the non-coffee side, the Banana Pudding Matcha Latte at ₱165/₱185 is the cult favorite that regularly gets named in reviews. There's a Strawberry Latte and a Blueberry Latte at ₱110/₱120 if you want something fruitier. The Chinggay's Houseblend Iced Tea at ₱90 is the value pick. The Wintermelon Refresher at ₱85 is the cold for hot afternoons.

The food side is small but serious. Croffles in three flavors — Oreo & Cream ₱160, Biscoff ₱180, and Knafeh Chocolate at ₱190, which is the one most regulars try first. Two Croissandwich options: Tuna Twister at ₱180 and the Hamzilla (it's loaded) at ₱200. Pasta — Chicken Pesto ₱270 or Pomodoro Shrimp ₱280. The signature rice meal is Chinggay's Pastil at ₱150.

The Vibe

Aesthetic corner cafe, popular with the student crowd and the catch-up-with-friends use case. Cold and comfortable inside. Tagged on Instagram a lot. The kind of place where the order is "another round of frappes" rather than "let's grab and go."

A Heads-Up

The interior is small. Groups of four or more should message the Facebook page first to confirm a table will be free. The menu is still labeled "Soft Opening" — items occasionally limited or adjusted.
